Terrascope uses AI and computer vision to help urbanites relocate out of cities and find their dream rural properties (land, hobby farms, and recreational homes).

Current Status

Our product has been live since 2020. On Zillow, users view around 9 listings per session, our users are engaged longer and view more listings - 17.6 listings/session.

Problem or Opportunity

56% of buyers rated finding the right property as the most difficult step of buying a home (NAR 2022).

This problem is even more pronounced for the rural real estate market (20% of the US real estate market), because the existing online search tools were created for apartments and houses but finding a hunting cabin is vastly different from buying a one-bedroom in New York.

Solution (product or service)

We built an AI search engine that works like a real estate agent (US Provisional Patent – 63/336,507). The AI search can learn a user’s preferences by analyzing their feedback on properties and then recommend the most suitable rural listings. It is more intuitive and efficient than the existing search models that have not changed since 2006.

Current business model:
Lead generation: we receive a fee when a user buys a property.

Long-term business model:
Commissions: replacing external agents, Terrascope can charge a lower commission and pass on the tech savings to our users.

Auxiliary services: provide/connect users to value-add services: home inspection, financing, and homeowner services (building planning, utilities, etc.)
