Traditional anime production economics prevent tens of thousands of proven, fan-loved stories (especially Korean webtoons/comics) from ever being adapted into anime. The cost and speed of traditional animation mean only a small slice of IP with guaranteed blockbuster potential gets made — leaving publishers, fans, and studios missing out on adaptations that clearly have audience demand. Korean comics already have a larger fanbase than Japanese comics, but almost none of that IP gets animated because the traditional pipeline can't justify the cost.
