Idea

We are building an A.I.-powered SaaS platform to connect nationwide, small-scale farmers directly with local restaurants, bypassing traditional distribution channels. Farms can maintain their inventory while restaurants order directly from local farms. However, we also offer the ability for farms and restaurants to sell and buy at a distance. With our local first, national second approach we can significantly improve farm profitability and provide consumers with fresher, locally-sourced food.

Market

Our main service is a gated marketplace where small farms maintain their inventory and independent restaurants order produce directly from the farms we have two primary audiences (in the U.S.):

- 1,900,000 small farms that gross > $250k / yr.
- 490,000 Independent Restaurants

Problem or Opportunity

Farms and Restaurants have razor thin profit margins.
On average, food travels 1,500 miles from farm to
consumer, impacting the quality of produce and increases spoilage & pollution.
20% of US food (~20 billion pounds) is thrown away
every year because it is ugly.

Solution (product or service)

We are building a supply-chain SaaS that will facilitate the direct connections between local farms and ranches and independent restaurants and commercial kitchens. With our platform, restaurants can plan their ingredients with precision and reliability that the current distribution system simply can't match. Meanwhile, farmers can crop plan effectively, and restaurants can control menu costs with scheduled, dependable deliveries for entire seasons.

Competitors

FullHarvest.com has a very similar service but they are focused on large producers (quantities are in pallets or truckloads). We are focused on small farms and independent restaurateurs. In our market segment there are no direct competitors.

Advantages or differentiators

We have no direct competitors.
We have a team with over 100 years experience in development, farming, and restaurateurs.
We have a breadth of additional tools for our customers that have already been developed.
We have extensive industry experience and networks.

Finance

Freemium: We offer both free and paid subscription options to small farms and restaurants.

Other. We also sell online advertising, charge a commission from paid transactions, and offer graphic design services through a subcontractor.

Business model

Risks

Competition. There's a possibility of facing stiff competition from expanding established players or new entrants.
Value proposition. If we can’t clearly demonstrate the value of our SaaS to both restaurants and home cooks, we will not capture our target market share.
Scalability. Meeting the demands of a growing customer base while maintaining quality and efficiency can be difficult.
Data Security. Our solution will handle sensitive data, such as farm locations and customer information. Ensuring robust data security is crucial.
Technology Dependence. Our business will rely heavily on technology to function. System outages or technical glitches could disrupt operations.
Food Safety. Foodborne illness outbreaks can be devastating for our business. A very clear legal disclaimer on all transactions will be vital.
