We are a climate-smart urban farming social enterprise that enhances the use urban space in away that financially empowers the urban population.
Current Status
We have installed 876 farms. In 2022, we got a contract through World Food program to Install Hydroponic Farms in Informal settlements (Refugee Camps) which gave us more exposure.
Problem or Opportunity
Climate variability and human induced soil health degradation greatly hinders food security in Uganda. This has a an effect on people in all walks of life, but particularly so for the most vulnerable: women, children & the elderly. For example, lack of basic food & water is often cause for domestic violence within deprived households, with women and children comprising the largest targets of such. If nothing is done, the immense challenge of achieving zero-hunger target by 2030 wont be achieved.
Solution (product or service)
We aim to provide ecological and innovative means for food production and agribusiness to help marginalized and vulnerable urban communities. We use hydroponic farms to empower urban communities to grow their own food and increase agricultural yields throughout all seasons.
Business model
Our revenue model is subscription, commission and direct sales. We have a one time subscription fee where farmers subscribe for the first time. We also have a recurring revenue strategy for commercial farms that we service periodically.
We have a transactional revenue model where we charge commission for every transaction through our platform. A revenue earning strategy charging commission on every sold item.
We finally have B2C for the local market.
