Competitors
Calm: officially a meditation app, but they became more of a sleeping app. Their target focus is wide and they don't manage so far to build a meditation habit for their users. For them to add a physical object would mean to 1. Change their business plan and 2. Change all their meditations, basically start a new business. On top, having a physical item, isn’t practical for sleep meditations. Headspace: First meditation app, but they lost focus, they integrated sports, music and things like dog grooming, or origami. Their app became quite fussy and hard to navigate, because of that they are losing market share. Waking up: Sam Harris is known and has a very scientifical approach with his meditation app, mainly attracting a male audience and focussed on a target group that wants to go into the deep stages of meditation. With topics like awakening, they are not addressing the big mass. Insight Timer: meditation app with relatively a lot of free content, with that there is a lot of low quality audio and when through the clutter, you finally find a teacher that you like, the offer of that teacher is limited. There are other meditation apps, but none of them is creating a community and offering a method that really makes meditation stick. It’s unlikely for them to copy, because this would mean a total new business model and change of all meditations (as we link to the object in each meditations), also an app focussed on a wide audience, will not only focus on female topics as this would alienate male users.
