Idea

Epoch Boats aims to enable mainstream adoption of electric boating by designing & manufacturing purpose–built hydrodynamic electric boats that are eco-friendly, efficient and affordable.

Current Status

We are currently pre-revenue at the prototype stage, and have a growing customer waitlist representing over $3.5M in potential revenue.

Problem or Opportunity

Boat ownership issues (like fuel & maintenance costs) deter 98% of potential boat buyers. Additionally, boating has a huge negative impact on the environment, consuming approx. 1.82B gallons of gasoline and emitting 60-70M tons of CO2 on an annual basis. Electric propulsion is the obvious solution, but speed, range & price have been challenges on electric boats.

Solution (product or service)

Epoch is developing boats specifically designed to work efficiently with electric motors, enabling them to go 50% faster with 3x range. The hydrodynamic hull design, along with our patent pending hydrofoil technology, reduces propulsive power requirements by as much as 75% and alleviates range anxiety commonly associated with electric boating. Our all-electric boats operate virtually noise free, require minimal maintenance, reduce fuel costs by as much as 96% and run with zero emissions.

Business model

Using our advanced manufacturing techniques, we’re able to build a cost competitive boat at scale. Our GTM strategy will initially be direct to consumers selling our entry level boat starting at $35K- $55K (depending on size), competitively priced compared to ICE equipped boats. With 90% of new boats retailing for less than $50K, we are directly targeting the highest volume segment in boating. We aim to expand the buyer base by capturing both existing boaters deterred by boater problems & new consumers by targeting 15M underserved/sidelined customers.
