Idea

Greenfluidics is a biotech startup that seeks to accelerate sustainability and environmental regeneration through innovations in real estate projects. We have developed the Intelligent Solar Biopanel, a unique multipurpose system in the world, that combines microalgae and nanotechnology, generating electricity and providing thermal comfort while cleaning the surrounding air, creating avant-garde designs in buildings by being able to be placed as part of windows, walls or skylights.

Current Status

After almost four years of continuous development, we are currently in the technological validation phase on real enviroment of the Intelligent Solar Biopanel, in order to demonstrate his function, design and performance.

We are not yet in the market, however technological innovation and the team that we have formed has allowed us to be part of some accelerators and international awards that we will detail later, as well as the interest of various multinational companies in energy, construction, cement and agricultural products from countries such as Germany, Hong Kong, UAE, Belgium and Mexico, as well as +300 emails from potential customers waiting for the final product.

Problem or Opportunity

The market opportunity that we have found is energy efficient buildings, with clients such as real estate developers, of which the region with the greatest impact and interest so far has been Germany, with which we seek to export our technology abroad.

The market opportunity grows with the imposition of the New Green Deal in the European Union, where strict policies are established to mitigate climate change and reduce environmental pollution, with the transition to sustainable cities being an important point, establishing an economic recovery plan from several countries , including Germany, which, due to the current pandemic, seeks to promote sustainability in the country, having an estimated annual growth up to 13.9%.

In a more particular way, it has been identified that commercial buildings have an estimated energy expenditure between 40-70% associated with thermal comfort, of which they seek to reduce substantially through new materials and technologies that help them obtain greater energy efficiency and can achieve certifications. that are now looking for much more clients, without neglecting the design and avant-garde that they look for in each building.

Solution (product or service)

Our technology the Intelligent Solar Biopanel, an innovative solar based tech that uses microalgae and nanotechnology to generates energy, provide thermal comfort and reduce the buildings carbon footprint.
Our Biopanel helps to Real Estate Developers to increase the value of their properties by being able to achieve environmental certifications and granting greater well-being benefits and energy savings to their occupant, generating a unique and avant-garde design.

The expected characteristics are:
• Generates up to 328 KWh/m2 per year.
• Provides energy efficiency in thermal comfort, saving up to 90 KWh/m2 per year.
• It can reduce up to 196 Kg CO2 per year/m2.
• It is semi-transparent, which allows up to 60% of sunlight to pass through, and can be placed as part of windows, walls, or skylights in buildings.
• It monitors environmental data that allows obtaining sustainability reports.
• It produces by-products such as microalgae biomass (organic fertilizer) and releases oxygen, improving air quality.

Competitors

Our main competitors are divided according to the individual function with which they fulfill, the closest competitor being energy efficient windows where our main competitor is Saint Gobain.

On the other hand, there are transparent solar panels that are used as windows or coatings for buildings, having competitors such as ClearVuePV and OnyxSolar.

Finally, there is a last competitor associated with air biofilters based on microalgae, where the main competitor is HyperGiant.

Advantages or differentiators

Our main difference of our technology with the competition is the unique combination that we achieve between microalgae and nanotechnology, in order to generate electricity while cleaning the air, providing thermal comfort and a unique and avant-garde design. In this way we can take advantage of the same space that exists in a building for retrofitting or including them in new projects, without affecting more space than necessary.

For this reason, our technology is in the process of product patenting, due to the combination that we managed to make, being improvable in the near future without the need to affect the entire structure and based on the main components.

Finance

We are in the process of completing the product, however our business model is planned to be B2B / B2G, where our main asset will be the biopanel, with a sale price of approximately 950 USD / m2

Business model

Our business model is based on a B2B, where the main clients are Real Estate Developers, of which the profits come from the direct sale of our technology, as well as the secondary income from the commercialization of the carbon credits generated, the sale of biomass that is generated as fertilizer, and the commercialization of localized or global sustainability reports.

Our main sales channels are through direct sales and we seek to include its commercialization through key partners within the construction industry and real estate developers, with a commission per project.

Money will be spent on

We are looking for the investment to operate in Mexico for a year, finish the development of the technology and accelerate the first steps towards the market, as well as finish the tests in a real environment.

Risks

The main risks that we have had have been at the local and regional level, since environmental policies and laws that regulate them advance at a very slow pace in Latin America, as well as on many occasions they disfavor this type of sustainable and innovative technologies, for which the visualizing markets abroad has allowed us to grow in this way so far.

In addition, the appearance of new technologies will not stop us, because on the contrary, it will help us to have a greater acceptance due to its adaptation and the perfect time to launch it on the market.

Incubation/Acceleration programs accomplishment

• The Axel Accelerator (member since July 2020) an accelerator located in Karlsruhe, Germany, which promotes companies that promote the energy transition in their country, connecting with key players and institutions that will seek to connect the Biopanel with the European market.
• Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (member since August 2020) an accelerator of disruptive technologies located in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, in order to connect the biopanel with the Middle East market for the transformation of its cities towards complete sustainability.
• BRAiN Mexico (member since December 2020) the Business, Research, Acceleration and Innovation, is an acceleration program for science-technology-based ventures, promoted by Tecnológico de Monterrey and Santander Bank.
• Investment Readiness Accelerator Program SDSN (member since December 2020) a program that was designed in collaboration with SDSN and Babele.co, with valuable insights from leading experts in the field, personalized 1-on-1 mentoring, and the opportunity to connect with impact investors from UN network.
