Market
- **TAM (Total Addressable Market):** Anyone who needs help with math or science or help teaching it. Total private tutoring + teaching instructional materials market. - **SAM (Serviceable Addressable Market):** High-end tutoring for people willing to pay a premium. Leverage tutoring for high-end families to uplift educational attainment of low-income families with Math4Bronx & ScienceBus. - **SOM (Share of Market):** Bengali, Pakistani, and Indian minority families living in the NY Metropolitan area, especially Queens, Brooklyn, and Bronx. - **Why does the target market need a solution?:** Pandemic has devastated student achievement in the classroom. They need to get back on track. Bari Science Lab is here to build back better.
Problem or Opportunity
Education is segregated in America — to the point that a handful of American states score the best in Math in the world, and the rest of America lurks in mediocrity, a few Southern states even ranking behind Bulgaria and Kazakhstan. Disadvantaged and minority families lack access to educational support (i.e., learning pods, test prep, tutoring, books, expensive summer programs, etc.), resulting in less minorities in magnet schools, resulting in less opportunity for minority and disadvantaged students.
Solution (product or service)
I'm building a platform so (1) teachers don't have to worry about lesson plans again, (2) students don't have to worry about falling behind again, and (3) parents don't have to worry about their child's grades again.
Competitors
- Khan Academy is strictly online, which fails to meet the needs of Kinesthetic Learners who need a hands-on approach to Math or Science. On top of that, we offer complete-course lesson plans for teachers to use in the classroom. That means 180 Websites for 180 Instruction Days for every subject, complete with Lesson Plans, Do Nows, Hints, Big Ideas and Exit Slips. - Khan's Tutorial teaches students in cramped rooms with barely any ventilation or lighting. It teaches 40-50 students in a single room with 18th century technology (i.e., two whiteboards at best) - Kaplan is not an option for low-income minority families who cannot afford courses or classes on the order of 10^2 or 10^3. It doesn't use hands-on experiments or simulations or labs to engage students in content.
