Idea

DementiaBuddy™ is an AI caregiving companion that gives real-time guidance, reduces caregiver stress, and helps people with dementia stay safe, understood, and supported at home.

Current Status

We have completed the initial unique algorithm and validated MERI against a 1000-prompt clinical benchmark. The system is pilot-ready, with our first care partners onboarding underway. We have an active
waitlist, early community engagement across caregiver networks, and a working product demo.

Problem or Opportunity

The dementia care system is broken on both sides. 55 million people live with dementia patients cycle through confusion, distress and fear daily with no consistent support, while caregivers carry 70% of all care unpaid with zero real-time insight into their loved one's emotional state. Existing tools fail both: AI companions have no dementia training, hardware devices cost thousands, and nothing serves patient and caregiver together. MERI fills that gap, an emotionally intelligent, software-first companion that detects, responds to, and escalates dementia-specific emotional states.

Solution (product or service)

MERI is an AI companion built specifically for dementia. It listens beyond words — detecting confusion, distress, repetition, and safety risks in real time, then responding in exactly the right tone for that
moment. When a patient says "I need to go home" three times in a row, MERI flags it. The caregiver gets an alert instantly. While the patient experiences a calm, safe companion, the caregiver gets a real-time window into their loved one's emotional state — daily mood summaries, pattern insights, and immediate safety alerts. One platform. Both sides of care.

Business model

DementiaBuddy will operate on a monthly subscription model with three tiers — Basic ($49/mo) for the patient companion, Family ($79/mo) adding caregiver sharing and notifications, and Premium ($99/mo) for the full caregiver dashboard, insights, and care planning tools.
Beyond direct-to-consumer, we want to license MERI to memory care facilities, healthcare providers, and insurance partners as a B2B clinical tool.
So two revenue streams. Recurring. Scalable. No hardware dependency.
