Idea

75% of human beings want to learn a new language and the current tools aren’t cutting it. Duolingo has 500 million users--only 1% of them achieve fluency. Gabb makes you fluent in 6 months.

Current Status

We have ten pilot schools in our current beta and have piloted with 13,507 students. We have a waiting list of 500 schools. The product is in beta, and we test it with real users in the US, Canada, and Spain. These are superintendents at the university and high school levels in our database waiting to use our finished MVP. We have finished our mixed reality (MR) app in the Microsoft app store as of July.

Problem or Opportunity

By 2025, 25 percent of public school students will be learning English in school. These students have difficulty assimilating and frequently struggle to produce speech in English, and uncover their full potential in the classroom. There is a lack of resources for these students as 78,000 teachers are allocated to addressing them. The absence of instructors to help them master the English language is leading to adverse outcomes. California has 29 percent of these students nationwide, and most do not transition to English quickly. Many remain stuck in academically segregated programs.

Solution (product or service)

Gabb Global is a low-cost, immersive, VR-based platform that provides a gateway between the classroom and real-world language learning. Gabb Global's immersive features support English language learning (ELL) students with language acquisition. In addition, providing total immersion, and cultural insights in real-time helps students uncover their gift of gab, shattering the classroom's socioeconomic and cultural gaps while providing previously inaccessible experiences to this demographic.

Business model

Our business model will be subscription-based, with charges for different sets of user types, but our first is through international language schools and military organizations, and community colleges. Eventually, Our plan is to charge K12 schools $40 dollars per student per year, and individual users not affiliated with a school or business will pay $9.99 cents per month. We can sell our product to the US government, and embassies as a supplement to their training programs.

Incubation/Acceleration programs accomplishment

MARL5 accelerator and gained 50K in funding from them. We won the Black Ambition Prize, we were named a top 200 startup by GSV Ventures and accepted into the 2022 Verizon Forward for Good Challenge and E-Team Program. 10K Black Girl Ventures Pitch Competition NexGen
