SpectX is an autonomous aerial radiography inspection startup enabling X-ray inspections for difficult-to-access asset infrastructure to detect internal structural defects for predictive maintenance

SpectX is currently developing the Minimum Viable Product and plans to have the first pilot tests by the end of 2023.
Currently, we have pilot tests with end-users for November 2023 and are in negotiations for pre-orders.

Most critical defects that actually lead to asset structural failure are usually developed on the internal structure and cannot be detected from the exterior. The current inspection techniques in the industry use either skilled technicians to manually inspect (risky, time-consuming) or drones with visual/thermal camera (detects only exterior defects). The SpectX technology can inspect internal structural defects autonomously in a cost-effective and rapid manner in order to get the maximum ROI and a more accurate predictive maintenance strategy.

The SpectX product is one complete integrated system designed to autonomously detect all internal structural defects within the asset infrastructure using aerial radiography, a type of Non-Destructive Testing. An X-ray source and detector is integrated into 2 synchronized drones to mimic the working principle of traditional radiography.
The final end product is built on the pillar of:
1. Aerial positioning & synchronization
2. Radiography control software
3. Alignment and robotic motion compensator
4. Image enhancement & processing

The commercial product will be based on a product-based business model in the market, with which internal defects can be identified and accurate predictive maintenance strategy can be carried out.
Potential customers:
• End-users/Asset managers: Offshore wind farm operators, managers of other difficult-to-reach infrastructure and industrial installations;
• Asset infrastructure maintenance companies will implement the product for the above sectors.
SpectX offers its technology as a Product-based business model for 350 k€ per complete integrated system.
