We develop systems with state-of-the-art technology to keep the ships safe.
Current Status
The product is in the Beta testing phase.
European Institute for Innovation & Technology founded the prototype development.
In partnership with Fraunhofer Institute in Germany, we developed a custom-made microphone and Automatic Speech Recognition model.
The Faculty of Maritime Studies in Croatia is our partner in developing and testing in a simulated environment, and one prototype is installed in their Navigational simulator.
Split Maritime Pilots are partners with development in a marine environment.
The trade is registered, and the IP patent application is in the national phase.
Problem or Opportunity
On the open sea, ships mostly sail with autopilot turned on, but to enter the port, the ship must go to hand steering. A maritime pilot embarks on the ship, and a helmsman conducts steering via verbal helm orders. In that instance, automatic course monitoring is not available anymore.
The most apparent problem is that nothing prevents a helmsman from putting the rudder over the wrong way. The helmsman can also misinterpret or otherwise wrongly execute issued helm orders.
Monitoring of helm orders also requires a high level of concentration which reduces situational awareness.
Solution (product or service)
HELM ORDER MONITOR is the first technological solution to the problem of insufficient monitoring of helm orders between helmsman and pilot or navigator onboard ships.
It is an electronic device that combines speech recognition and data from the ship's sensors. This artificial intelligence allows us to continuously monitor whether issued helm orders are clear, confirmed, and correctly executed.
Business model
Currently, around 53,000 merchant ships, cruise ships, and very large yachts are operating globally. We are also targeting the market of 4,000 Navigational simulators. The business model is strictly B2B, intended for shipping companies and training centers for seafarers. We will combine direct sales and a subscription model.
