Zuri Health is a Pan-African health tech company providing affordable and convenient healthcare services to patients via a mobile app, website, WhatsApp bot and SMS service.
Current Status
Since inception, we have had over 800,000 SMS subscribers, 5200+ lab orders, 5000 + pharmacy orders, 500+ doctors onboarded and more than 30 lab and pharmacy partners. We have also grown to a staff strength of about 45 persons spread across multiple countries (Kenya, Zambia and Nigeria) and are very much in plans to roll out in over 15 countries before the end of next year. We recently secured a partnership with MTN to roll out our services in all their countries, giving us access to their over 150 million subscribers on the continent.
Problem or Opportunity
Traditionally, healthcare across Africa is fragmented, inaccessible, time-consuming, and costly with many underserved being trapped outside of the traditional health system and unable to receive basic primary care. Furthermore, there is also the rapidly growing, predominantly young, African population that has fast eclipsed the number of healthcare workers in the region leading to a high doctor-to-patient ratio (> 1:5,000 within SSA).
Solution (product or service)
Our solution aims to democratize access to healthcare by offering end-to-end services including consultations, lab testing, pharmacy delivery and aftercare management to patients via a mobile app, website, WhatsApp bot and SMS service. Patients are able to access healthcare in a cheap, affordable and convenient way from the comfort of their mobile phones.
Business model
We have 3 key revenue models;
1. Subscription model - for doctors who pay $150 annually and premium app users who subscribe for $2 monthly for unlimited chat with a doctor
2. SMS billing - for patients who consult doctors via SMS text and billed from their airtime
3. Commission - from pharmacy and lab orders.
