The Daily Edit is a better way to read the news. We developed a comparative news platform to combat bias, that uses AI to give readers all the details of a story across numerous articles.
Current Status
We have been on the app store for 2 months, we've seen 500+ downloads, growing at 10% a week. Tech development is ongoing, new feature and app build rollout is occurring on a regular basis. ML is constantly being improved. We're 2 weeks into A/B testing with google ads and we're identifying social media influencers to collaborate with.
Problem or Opportunity
Trust in news media is at all time lows and declining (Reuters Institute Digital News Report 2022). Most people (74%) want news that gives them all the details in a story with no particular viewpoint so they can decide for themselves. The spread of misinformation and disinformation has an immeasurable effect on our daily lives, it effects referendum results, elections, exacerbating societal divides, even leading to domestic terrorism (CSIS 2022) in some extreme cases. Solution (product or service)
A news app which automatically analyses news articles for bias and manipulation using artificial intelligence (A.I) - Natural Language Processing (NLP). Using novel AI algorithms, TDE identifies all details within trending news stories, across numerous articles, to give readers the full story, combatting bias.
Business model
We have a freemium model, people can download the app for free, and enjoy all features for 6 weeks. During this period we ask people to sign up, then pay 4 weeks after that. People can continue using the app after this period with limited functionality.
