DeepSquare is building an ecosystem to provide a decentralised, sustainable, professional grade cloud, with a focus on HPC, as an alternative to centralised large-tech.
Current Status
The ecosystem relies on the grid of computing clusters (DeepSquare owned and grid partners). We have developed Cluster Factory (HPC infrastructure orchestrator) and are developing our own blockchain.
Our POC cluster is in Sion, Switzerland and two additional clusters will be deployed in August 2022 (Basel and Nanterre). We have built a pipeline of ~17 grid-partners and 20 customers, currently being onboarded. Our customers are helping us to validate our platform and will start paying by Sept 2022.
Problem or Opportunity
DeepSquare addresses 3 challenges currently faced by the HPC and Cloud industry
1 - Energy Consumption & Environmental Impact: cloud services are notorious for having resources idling and High Performance Computing is extremely power hungry, putting a potential additional burden on the environment.
2 - The lack of fair and transparent pricing mechanisms
3 - Restrictive and exclusive environment: Cloud computing is centralised in the hands of a few tech giants at the moment Big Tech controls 76% of the market
Solution (product or service)
DeepSquare is creating new standards for sustainable cloud, allowing any actor to benefit from DeepSquare research to minimise the environmental impact. This includes all aspects from hardware (energy sources, cooling system, heat reuse) to software layer (favours low consumption work loads when possible).
We propose to federate the usage of spare computing resources from professional providers, with transparent pricing.
The creation of an interoperability layer between all the compute resource providers to allow them to look like one single entity: for the people by the people.
Business model
Revenue will be generated through the sale of compute. As the HPC market is growing year on year, the demand for managed and optimised solutions is also growing and DeepSquare will service this market. We are building an interoperability layer allowing anyone to request professional grade compute resources anywhere in the world. Payments can be made using fiat or our own utility token: Square. When there are no customer workloads the compute power can be allocated to mining to ensure the DeepSquare clusters are always generating revenue.
