Bloonics is developing diagnostic systems for the detection of cannabis impairment, tackling a growing unmet need for employers and law enforcement alike.
Current Status
We have completed a MVP for the eye scanner which tracks the pupil under various light conditions. In addition we have a proof of concept for our toxicology system with a dose response curve for THC and synthetic cannabinoids.
Problem or Opportunity
Drug tests for cannabis cannot discern between active impairment and the mere presence of metabolites from prior use. With many jurisdictions looking to legalize the use of cannabis around the world, there are growing legal protect the rights of patients, thus rendering the outdated testing methods unfeasible.
Solution (product or service)
Our diagnostic system will initially consist of an eye scanner which automates the gold-standard tests for impairment used by specialized police officers today. We remove the subjectivity and provide a clear line of evidence supporting probable cause for toxicology. Following this launch, we intend to release a toxicology system which uniquely detects only the active forms of THC, adding certainty to the findings of the eye scanner. In tandem these sensors build a database for us to use ML and continually improve our tests performance.
Business model
We intend to build this into hardware enabled SaaS company, assessing an upfront fee which covers our cost of sales (including hardware itself) and a subscription to access the ML model for impairment.
