Topia is a social experience platform where anyone can create a network of customizable virtual worlds for real time connection and play. Click to move and video chat to anyone in your proximity.
Current Status
We have 400 paying subscribers. Up until 2 months ago, we had no sales or marketing team. We realized that we had ~3,000 companies with over 100 employees coming to our website every month. So we hired a sales team and are now closing net new deals. We've also rolled out an enterprise offering and have 3 companies we are onboarding at $20k / mo each.
Problem or Opportunity
Gatherings online don't resemble the experience of getting together in person. Zoom doesn't provide context or an easy way for people to self-facilitate their own experience. Real time video chat is more of a broadcast where one person at a time speaks to the entire group.
Solution (product or service)
Online gatherings in Topia feel more human - people can easily move in and out of conversations to experience spontaneous chats, meetups, and moments of serendipity. Creators can also embed content like YouTube, spatial sounds, product demos, and embedded websites
throughout their worlds.
Business model
We charge based on capacity within a world. Similar to a venue, you are charged either $1 per capacity or $4 per capacity depending on whether you are in 'Performance' or 'Standard' mode. Topia is also rolling out an Enterprise offering that allows companies to self-host their own metaverse cloud. These rates start at $15k per month.
