Problem or Opportunity
The African creative value chain is broken. 70% of African creatives cannot access financing for their projects despite the $700M+ available in creative funds. A perceived high risk of funding projects exists because there is no clear path to monetization. The biggest holders of capital do not know how to correctly structure creative financing, given that the fundamentals differ from traditional hard asset-backed financing. On the other hand, many creatives have a hard time understanding the mechanics of packaging a viable project or even getting in front of investors.
Solution (product or service)
TalentX is helping creatives finance, host and monetize their content. Our proprietary financing Protocol is designed to maximize success rates and minimize investor risks, and all funding is secured using Intellectual Property. We are also introducing non-traditional monetization options where creative pricing control and audience ownership are prioritized.
Business model
We are raising a film fund to finance 25 - 50 projects between 2022 and 2023. We make money from interest spread (up to 9%) on loans offered to creatives and royalty revenues (30% equity split on average).
