We’re unlocking Earth’s most abundant source of protein, RuBisCo, from green leaves. Our leaf protein ingredients are high in protein, free from allergens, not genetically modified and sustainable.
Current Status
We’ve achieved an 80% concentrate from 2 different leaf sources and have engaged over 50 Food Companies locally and internationally. All of them have requested samples of our leaf protein ingredient to use in their new product development. Currently we are developing the commercial-scale process for production of our initial samples for these food companies and manufacturers.
Problem or Opportunity
Despite the increasing demand for plant-based foods, Food Companies around the world face the challenge of having only 3 main plant protein ingredients to work with. This makes it incredibly difficult to create plant-based meat and dairy products that consumers will love.
This is further limited by the gluten and soy allergens in 2 of the main plant proteins: wheat and soy. As well as consumer concerns about genetic modification and environmental sustainability.
Solution (product or service)
We're developing a new category of plant proteins from green leaves. Our leaf protein ingredients are a specialty protein as it not only offers protein but also additional foaming, gelling and emulsification properties. This is of great interest to the prospective plant-based meat and dairy companies we’ve spoken with, because it can help improve the texture and mouthfeel of their products. We also source our biomass from crop-by products and regenerative plants to ensure their sustainability.
Business model
We will initially sell the finished leaf protein ingredients to Food Brands. As we scale and develop our library of leaf protein ingredients we will license the manufacturing process to ingredient manufacturers as our primary business.
