Pika is a machine that cleans reusable diapers in one step. Our goal is to eliminate the use of disposable plastic diapers by making reusable diapers much easier to use
Current Status
We have a working model with 5 paying customers and 150+ parents that are looking forward to use Pika
Problem or Opportunity
The main problems currently with reusable diapers: 1) Time Consuming - Up to 1-2 hours daily to clean each diaper (and even then, results aren’t perfect) 2) High initial cost - need to buy at least 20 diapers at the beginning, totaling to at least $450 at once Although Disposable diapers are more convenient, they are very bad for the environment and have a high cumulative cost - up to $3,000 for each baby. Each baby uses up to 6,500 diapers and it can take 250-500 years for each one to decompose.
Solution (product or service)
Pika is a machine that cleans reusable diapers in one step. The user can throw the soiled diapers in the machine without prior cleaning, and have clean diapers, ready to be used within two hours.
Our solution offers parents the same convenience of using disposable diapers, but with better environmental impact and a lower cost given our business model - a fixed price of $45 per month This is a testimonial video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yuwvy3PEUEM
Business model
A subscription package, costing $45 per month, includes the machine, 20 reusable diapers, and a supply of sanitizing capsules. After 30 months (the typical diapering period), this option would generate $1,350 in revenue, and with $747 in costs, we will generate $603 in profit (45% gross margin).
