Idea

A platform for content creation and monetisation in Augmented Reality, usable in industries such as marketing, entertainment/gaming and tourism. Equinox is automating what previosuly wasn't automated: content creation, delivery and monetisation of AR. We are focused on location-based AR, enriching real-world location with information and content. We are a scalup with a cash flow.

Current Status

We are an early stage business with a couple of paying clients. We have deployed our platform with its content in 4 countries, and wish to scale up the product and the business to higher levels globally.

Market

We are targetting marketing and tourism sectors as our first clients, but our goal is to become the dominant global platform for creation and monetisation of AR.

AR is predicted by Statista to reach over 72 billion USD globally in 2024.

Problem or Opportunity

Augmented Reality (AR) industry is fragmented, with single-purpose applications being created for each specific marketing campaign, museum, tourist attraction, etc - which is a problem because users are hard to motivate to install new apps on their mobile phones - and even if they do, they need to learn this app and they will forget and deinstall it soon after. In short, user acquisition is costly. This lack of platforms is also preventing content creators from coming up with creative ideas and content targetted for AR.

Solution (product or service)

We are creating a platform for creation and monetisation of Augmented Reality content through a marketplace. Our concept is similar to wanting to become "Roblox for AR", but in addition to gaming we are also targetting B2B use cases. We create tools for content creation and the platform on which this content will be deployed. In this way, we are attracting end-users with entertaining content, and serious B2B users with business activities and content, especially by using gamification tools.

Our initial customers are in the tourism and advertising industries, where they use the platform for attracting and engaging with customers.

Our goal is to become the default global platform for creation and monetisation of AR.

Competitors

Major companies like Apple, Facebook, Google are also in the AR space but they are not (yet) creating a mass-consumption platform, which is what we have developed.

There are smaller competitors like ARize which are also not yet thinking of creating a mass-production and mass-userbase platform.

Advantages or differentiators

By creating a platform AR, we are lowering the cost of entry to businesses and content creators who want to create AR content, but were avoiding it because of fragmentation, complexity and the costs involved in such creations. We are making it possible to easily create interactive and dynamic location-based AR content and deploy it world-wide.

Finance

We are currently early in our business, revenues come fr om B2B clients wh ere we design and implement AR experiences for them, and the majority of our costs are in development and marketing. We are transitioning to a platform model where the revenue will come from licesing content creation tools, revenue sharing for the content with the content creators and from freemium content for end-users.
