Idea

Rouster is a full desktop computer entirely in the cloud. As you still need a monitor, a keyboard, and a mouse, you can use rouster on any device you probably already have - a desktop, a laptop, a smartphone, a TV or with our custom devices so small that can fit in any pocket, effectively having just the same computer everywhere, anytime. But Rouster can be upgraded/downgraded with a click of a mouse, it is more secure, better priced, and environment friendly.

Current Status

We are still in early-stage but already have validated the product by two proof of concept products, test users, focus groups as well as a landing page with a google campaign inducting test sales.

Problem or Opportunity

If you ever bought a computer, you already know how frustrating it is to pay pots of money, knowing that this computer is going to be old, slow, or even broken in just several years. Living in an era when we put literally everything in the cloud it is kind of surprising we didn't put the entire computer there. On top of this our test users also report problems with security, lack of mobility of desktop computers, and the high price of high-end computers.

Competitors

There are some big names on this market, but they are all acting quite fragmented. The used technologies are mainly sold over the corporate market and all the players consider this as a side business, unable to fulfill at least one of the key factors to make the cloud-based personal computers an actual retail product.

Microsoft, PaperSpace, Citrix - Missing streaming solution, missing dedicated hardware - high pricing

Google - Focused mainly on the gaming market, invest in quite futuristic technologies, and not able to release working products for about a while. Looks like they are going to kill it soon or transform it into a product, specifically for game development companies.

NVidia, Blade - Strictly gaming solutions

Advantages or differentiators

We are fully focused only on PC in the cloud. Unlike all the other companies we are developing the whole variety of services and products needed for PC in the cloud to work properly (infrastructure, service, devices, support). We are quite open and we offer great opportunities for partnerships even with the big companies out there. Rouster is providing user’s experience which is totally indistinguishable from using an ordinary computer. Rouster computers can be used for everything from editing office documents to gaming, 3D design, and rendering.

Finance

Various monthly subscription plans (between 8 and 50 euros/month) with incentives for yearly contracts; Pay-as-you-go service if plan exceeded or upon lack of interest for subscribing; Optional thin client devices.

Targeted mostly in the end-user. The person who is going to the shop to buy the next computer. We want to give him the opportunity to choose among a conventional computer and paid it in advance or a Rouster computer and pays for it a subscription having the advantages to upgrade/downgrade whenever is needed, better security, customer support, and being environment-friendly.

Around 150 euro cost per user; Around 100 of them are for production.
