Problem or Opportunity

Kids camps don't know who's here now and where they are. Existing tech solutions are too big and expensive. These existing solutions don't address critical camp needs. So, camps operate with this risk. Almost all camps have lost track of a child for a terrifying minute – and some, forever.
Many programs also suffer from high attrition rates and struggle to find ways to motivate kids to stick with the program.

Solution (product or service)

Campers wear Pigeon’s cool fitness band in and out of camp. They check in and out of camp by “scanning” the band at any of the camp’s devices where staff verify pictures. Camps set goals, track progress, and give rewards to motivate campers through gamification. Achievements are shared with parents and family members via push notifications. Families buy bands, set their own goals and rewards, then share achievements via social media.

Advantages or differentiators

Pigeon’s patented system is first to market. Our focused, passionate, and driven team creates a strong barrier to incumbents wanting to pivot. We have created a brand that will be difficult to replicate. We OEM an existing product currently in, high-volume production. Our proprietary, purpose-built modifications are a barrier to replicate and reduce development time and risk.

Finance

After-school programs pay $9.99/month/kid and camps pay $4.99/week/kid for Pigeon. Our hardware is an off-the-shelf product that's in high-volume production in China. It is modified with our firmware and logo. Hardware costs are $0.83/month/kid. Our software development team is in India, reducing development cost by a factor of 6. Our software architecture is designed to scale up for summer and scale back down at the end of summer.

Business model

In the US, 10M school-age kids participate in after-school programs and 14M people participate in camps every year. These are heavily weighted toward the East and West coast. Parents are spending money to keep them safe while providing enriching experiences. Parents also want to see them stay motivated and succeed at whatever they do.
This represents a $2B market for Pigeon.
