Market

JANDI is now the #1 Enterprise SaaS tool used by companies across Asia with a strong presence in South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, Philippines, and Malaysia. We are now focused on replicating this success in the emerging markets, specifically in the Middle East with a focus on the GCC countries and India where collaboration and communication technologies for the workplace are lacking.

Problem or Opportunity

Employees spend an extensive amount of time during their workday responding to emails and attending meetings. In the region, there is a heavy dependency on using personal consumer apps like Whatsapp for communication. Work and personal messages are mixed, group chats are not organized, it's difficult to manage tasks, or find files shared. More importantly, it's a security issue for company data. There is a need for real-time cloud-based collaboration tools for the workplace.

Solution (product or service)

JANDI is a cloud-based enterprise communication and collaboration application with group chat and messaging for teams in the workplace. Messages and files are instantly encrypted and stored on AWS, ensuring company data is secure. Integrations with work apps like G Suite, Trello, JIRA, GitHub, and Dropbox allow for smooth workflows across teams. Other features include video conferencing, screen sharing, and simple task management. Based on a survey of 2,319 JANDI users, in-house meetings decreased by 29%, work related emails dropped by 42% and overall team productivity increased by 56%.

Competitors

Our competitor app Slack is the pioneer for work-place collaboration and has seen great success in the US. However, the app was designed for the software industry and the interface is developer-oriented; making it difficult for general usability.

Advantages or differentiators

JANDI is a simple and easy-to-use application that is more affordable plans (25% cheaper) and offers more features like task-management, company org chart, and integrations with other work apps. JANDI also provides customers in-app live support through Intercom and on-site training to ensure customer success.

Finance

When we started in 2014, we had just a little over 700 teams on the service. In the last 5 years, we have grown to over 200,000 teams collaborating on JANDI. We project to see the same exponential growth in the next 5 years.

Business model

The business uses a subscription model where companies are billed monthly or annually per user. There are three plans to chose from; Free, Premium for $5 and Enterprise $9, depending on the number of users and storage space they require.

Money will be spent on

Allocated to the marketing budget (currently 0) for the emerging markets to create awareness in the region. This will include participation in more events and expos, online and media, localization of the website and app, and eventually new hires for local customer support and sales.

Offer for investor

JANDI was founded in 2014 in South Korea. We raised $13M USD in Series A and are backed by Qualcomm Ventures and SoftBank. We currently we have 40 Employees with offices in South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia and UAE. Our annual recurring revenue from user subscriptions is $1.56M USD. We are looking to raise another $8-10M USD in Series B round funding with $40M USD valuation.

Team or Management

Risks

Customers lack the understanding in why using personal messaging apps like Whatsapp is a risk for the business. The challenge will be in educating the market in best practices at the workplace and encouraging them to convert from the free subscription plan to paid.

Incubation/Acceleration programs accomplishment

JANDI participated in the KOTRA accelerator program in UAE in Sept 2019.

Won the competition and other awards

JANDI (Toss Lab, Inc.) won the 1st Prize in ‘Vietnam Startup Wheel 2019’ for an international group with a prize of $22,500 USD and #1 at Unicorn Battle in the UAE.
