We at Nocturne specialize in products and services that allow diagnosing and monitoring neurologic disorders through imaging of the eye.
Currently, our main focus is multiple sclerosis, with future applications in Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.
Our goal is to improve the accuracy of the initial diagnosis and to provide a close disease monitoring for initiating the right treatment and treatment adjustment, with the possibility of reducing the number of costly and time-consuming MRI examinations.
Current Status
Our technology is ready to be deployed. We did initial validation studies for multiple sclerosis and related diseases. Filed 3 patents on our technology. We will start the end of the year with several pilots n Germany with the main focus of monitoring Multiple Sclerosis and related disorders. We filed our documentation and expect to receive CE certification for a class IIA medical device at the end of this year End of last year we entered the partnership with one of the largest imaging centers from Switzerland (MIAC) for clinical trials.
Market
Our goal is to enter the market as a medical product, and offer our services for hospitals and caregivers (neurologist and ophthalmologist).
Problem or Opportunity
Globally, the burden of neurological disorders has increased substantially over the past 25 years with currently more than 61 million people suffering from Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), and multiple sclerosis (MS). This number will continue growing with the increase of life expectancy and aging population. More concerning is the enormous impact these diseases have on the affected persons themselves, but also on their social environment and healthcare systems. Finding new and better ways for diagnosis and treatment is a matter of increased urgency as these could significantly delay disability and therefore, have a major impact on health overall.
Solution (product or service)
Nocturne's goal is to be part of the solution to ensure better care and by providing a more accessible way to monitor these diseases, and to prevent and detect them at an early stage. Nocturne specializes in products and services that allow monitoring and diagnosing neurologic disorders through imaging of the eye. Nocturne’s proprietary technology (three With its product Nocturne addresses customers in pharmaceutical research, academia and clinical care.patents pending) analyses 3D images of the retina, which are obtained by optical coherence tomography (OCT). OCT is a noninvasive imaging technology routinely used in ophthalmology. Standard OCT devices are affordable but are by themselves of only limited value for neurologic applications.
Competitors
Main competitors are standard OCT, which offers far less diagnostic value in key neurologic applications. And MRI, which offers more diagnostic capabilities but at much higher costs, wasting of time and inconvenience.
Advantages or differentiators
Nocturne expects that its OCT-based retinal image analysis will allow neurologists short-term diagnostic decisions, which will reduce the need for external costly MRIs. The ultimate goal is to offer specialized screening analysis for early detection of neurological disorders. •Fast analysis imaging diagnostic and disease progression tool • Cost-effective • Easy to use • Combines already available hardware on the market • Device agnostic • Specific for neurological applications
Business model
We are a B2B business with a pay-per-analysis monetization model.
