Actival, a spin off from Swiss largest R&D Center CSEM, has patented Active Aligners with integrated microchannels for release of beneficial fluids and improved oral health- Backed by 2.000+ dentists.
Current Status
Active Aligners have already received significant attention from leading experts in the field, which is represented by the 8 Key Opinion Leaders from some of the world’s best dental schools/clinics which have signed LoIs or are actively working on bringing the product to the market.
In the past year we have received more than 2.000 LoIs from dental clinics that are interested in our product which corresponds to more than 60M USD/year in ARR just from these dental clinics. This strong market response highlights the market demand for this transformative solution.
Problem or Opportunity
Aligners cover the entire tooth surface for ~22 hours a day, limiting saliva and oxygen flow. This promotes bacterial buildup, plaque biofilms, enamel demineralization, white spot lesions (reported in 41% of patients), caries, and periodontal issues. Surface irregularities further enhance bacterial adherence. The need for an Active Aligner to overcome these problems has been validated by over 2,000 signed Letters of Interest from leading dental specialists.
Solution (product or service)
Actival’s patented CSEM technology enables 3D-printed Active Aligners with integrated microfluidic channels prefilled with antibacterial fluid, calcium/fluoride, and flavor. These are slowly released during wear, reducing bacteria, strengthening enamel, preventing decay, and improving breath—creating a multifunctional next-generation aligner that preserves oral health.
Business model
Our key activities focus on the development, manufacturing, marketing and sales of dental aligners of a novel generation.
We will divide our sales strategy between indirect B2B where we would partner with large dental distributing companies such as Henry Schein, Patterson company, Benco, GC (with cca 5x markup; aligners sold for 30 CHF per aligner) and direct B2B through a large network of individual dental offices (9x markup, aligners sold for 50 CHF).
