Plantify turns the $8.9B tree-planting market into a 10x ROI opportunity with certified, trackable seedlings. Backed by a proven pilot, our platform ensures long-term impact and profit.
Current Status
We're currently working on our second pilot and developing a web app for it.
Problem or Opportunity
To slow down climate change, each state needs to plant a large number of trees per year. The magic number to plant is 31.4 million, according to a new American Forests study done with Dr. David Nowak of the U.S. Forest Service. Planting that many trees would cost $8.9 billion a year. While nurseries or charity organizations do provide these trees, they don't provide the tools for these buyers to manage each tree and keep track of their health; a necessary tool to ensure that the trees live long and they don't have to repeat the process after a few years.
Solution (product or service)
To account for environmental factors that each state struggles with, not every tree would work. Plantify conducts the research on what species would thrive best for the area and ensure its quality through meticulous data collection and monitoring. This ensures that the investments made into Plantify have long-lasting effects. Unlike other tree providers, Plantify does not rely on a greenhouse or a nursery system, but individuals. People all across the country can contribute to this cause from either their homes or the institutions they are in. The tracking happens from their phone.
Business model
Our business model thrives on delivering value through a tree’s value over time, starting from seed. That value is recorded in the tree’s database.
We implemented this model with Maclura Pomifera in 2021 and were able to produce 400 seedlings in less than a year for a municipality in the middle east that was in need of low-water trees.
