Signed a 3-year $1.2M USD provincial government contract with Emissions Reduction Alberta for paid subscriptions to the platform to teach climate tech founders. Ran 7 paid pilots, $60K USD in revenue, with Edmonton Unlimited, a municipal government.
Problem or Opportunity
There are over 50 million startups created globally every year. Governments and Non-Profits in emerging markets are spending $156B annually, yet are only able to support 20% of their local startups. They are still seeing 80% of startups fail within the first 5 years due to preventable reasons that can be solved by proper education. Traditional solutions like accelerators are expensive, exclusive, and geographically restrictive.
Solution (product or service)
We are building an ed-tech platform to teach first-time founders around the world how to build, scale, and fundraise. Just as Codecademy created an interactive learning experience for aspiring engineers, we are creating an interactive experience for founders. Through the combination of courses, tools, gamified challenges, and individualized mentorship, we will create an alternative education stream on learning to build a startup while connecting with a community of mentors, founders, and investors globally. Business model
Our revenue comes from monthly subscription founder seats that are funded by government/non-profit initiatives supporting the startup ecosystem. All our revenue is from pilot revenue with municipal/provincial/federal entities. We just closed Google For Startups Canada to reach founders across the country. We will be creating co-branded course modules with them, similar to our Andreessen Horowitz collaboration, which will have courses/mentors available at no cost to founders globally.
