Idea

A renewable energy driven, sustainable High production capacity plantain flour mill ( 20,000 - 80,000 tons per annum) providing gluten free flour for a global healthy society.

Current Status

Over 2ha of land have been purchased for the project in a favourable location with a cargo airport and international sea port within an hour radius.

local plantain farmers in the community are poised to provide steady supply of raw plantain annually in order to achieve the proposed mantle of a "high capacity" mill.

Market

Currently in Nigeria, plantain flour is already in use as a substitute for a popular local food staple “Garri” as well as being used as a raw material for production of cakes, doughballs and pancakes.
That being said, the market is restricted to a demography of people with medically prescribed dietary needs.
Unlike the Western World That already shows a paradigm shift towards health consciousness and healthy food options. The global gluten free products market was estimated at USD 6.45 billion in 2022 with a CAGR 0f 9.8% from 2023-2030.
The main target customers are Food companies, Bakery chains, café chains and restaurants. Stores that have vegan and gluten free sections are also valued. Global shipping and logistics will be outsourced through Traders of Africa (ToFa).

Problem or Opportunity

Given the current economic crisis plaguing Nigeria (Unemployment, high cost of living, poor exchange rates), there is a favourable push and concessions from the federal Government towards export oriented businesses.

The cost of manpower is also quite favourable and access to the raw materials makes logistics issues not challenging.

Solution (product or service)

Global consciousness is panning towards healthy eating. If you mean to corner the market in healthy foods and food product then having a steady flexible supply of plantain flour will help you achieve market dominance.

Plantain is a super food with numerous benefits to health and nutrition. it stands heads and shoulders above other gluten free, grain based flour in terms of the nourishment it provides. ( It is excellent for diabetic people) and for other sources of gluten free flour, plantain four takes the lead in taste- as it is still flavorful.

It is quite versatile in its use as well. from baked goods to porridge, drinks, soups and stews, Plantain flour will Thrive across all segments of the Food and beverage industry.

Competitors

In terms of alternatives to grain flour, the leading producer in Nigeria is Ayoola Foods. The branded product line includes Yam flour, Plantain flour, potato flour, cassava flour. But all are consumed as “Swallow” Solids. (consumed with Soup or Stew).
Today, Flour Mills of Nigeria (FNM) is the largest flour milling company in Nigeria, with an installed flour milling capacity of approximately 12,000 metric tons per day.

Globally there are other brands of plantain flour selling in stores worldwide as well as other gluten free flour and All-purpose flour.

Advantages or differentiators

In Nigeria, The Large High capacity flour mills like FMN, aren't in the business of gluten free flour.
Ayoola foods in Nigeria has a diversified offering of Gluten-free flour which strains her production capacity.

Not only Is This project by Clemlas Nigeria, specializing in Gluten free flour, it is specializing in Plantain flour a super food.

With That in mind, the project is sited in a rural location with steady and incremental access to the raw plantains used in the milling process. this facilitates a constant supply in high quantities.

Clemlas Nigeria isn't looking to tout its own brand in the market, so its core advantage lies in its role as an incognito producer in a supply chain.
it can offer its services to any brand.

The primary product being plantain flour will be fairly and sustainably sourced, as well as produced with Sustainability, quality and food safety being paramount in its design.
The secondary products which will be fiber produced crafts and art will be a business-to-consumer model being driven by tourism influx and peddled by members of the community being another stream of income for members of the community.
The by-product being biogas will be primarily used as a source of renewable energy to power the factory and eventually multiple integrated small communities as the business activities inevitably expand as a result of the global paradigm shift towards healthy food options.

Money will be spent on

The capital requirements include:
• The costs of purchasing and shipping the equipment line. The equipment line is customizable and can be configured to meet specific requests in consideration of price. With the available space, the production line can grow to 4 separate lines with time and technology.

• As it is Agriculture oriented, it is subject to problems such as seasonality of the product, scarcity of the raw materials as a result of poor harvest due to pests and diseases and climate change.
