One third of all food produced is thrown away, while 10% of the global population go hungry. Food waste alone generates 12% of all GHG emissions. At last, food retail loses in average 2% of their revenues due to unsold product at their expiring dates.
Solution (product or service)
A digital app that connects supermarkets with people in need, offering near-expiring goods with 50% discount. We double the consumption power of poor families as we sell goods by half their regular price, reducing retail losses by over 40% and truly preventing GHG emissions.
Business model
b4waste is a marketplace operating through an assetless operation, 20% take-rate based, with a positive cash flow cycle - payments are done in the app and we reimburse sellers 40 days after collecting the cash (holding our comission). No stock, nor logistics, just a small team on marketing, tech and operations.
