Idea

KasiFlavor is the fast food ordering and delivery App that mainly services the informal sector (Townships) which is currently underserved by the big players in the South African market.

Current Status

The minimum viable product for the delivery service has been developed and is currently in the market. Over the last 11 months of operating, the platform currently has more than 30 active fast food outlets and over 6500 registered customers.

The supply chain functionality of the App still needs to be developed.

Problem or Opportunity

The informal fast food outlet owners who are based in the Townships do not have a reliable online platform that allows them to expand their customer base through offering delivery services. They also do not have optimized supply chains which results in them getting supplies at high prices. This is due to the fact that the established food ordering platforms and fresh produce suppliers in the market currently do not recognize these businesses due to their location and size.

Solution (product or service)

The KasiFlavor App helps informal small fast food outlet owners in the Townships to expand their market reach without having to expand their premises or invest in a delivery system. This is achieved through enrolling them on a platform that allows customers to place orders online and have them delivered. KasiFlavor will also connect these small fast food outlets directly with nearby small scale farmers which will enable them to get supplies conveniently and at favourable prices.

Business model

Our business makes money through the following avenues:
- Commissions per order placed via the App (paid by customers)
- Delivery fees (paid by customers)
- Joining fees (paid by fast food outlet owners when they join the platform)
- Monthly service fees (to be paid by fast food outlet owners on a monthly basis)
