Idea

Radetec develops ultra-sensitive, Point-Of-Care rapid diagnostic tests for Sexually-Transmitted-Infections and various other infectious diseases using an advanced quantum dots technology platform.

Current Status

Two working prototypes, a Chlamydia and a Covid-19 rapid antigen tests, both based on the same quantum dots-based technology platform, have been developed, along with two working prototypes of electronic readers (one for qualitative use, one for quantitative use). Two rounds of VC investments have been raised so far. Radetec is in the process of raising the 3rd round of investments to pay for clinical trial / regulatory approval, before launching to market.

Problem or Opportunity

Existing lab-based tests for Sexually-Transmitted-Infections (STIs) are expensive, time-consuming, causing low test rates and further spread of infections, particularly amongst resource-poor regions and countries, leading to a STI "hidden" pandemic worldwide.

Solution (product or service)

Radetec has developed a world-leading, ultra-sensitive quantum dots-based technology platform which enables material improvements in Point-Of-Care rapid test sensitivities, to allow for fast, inexpensive and convenient rapid antigen tests for various STIs and other infectious human, animal or plant diseases.

Business model

Two business models:

1. B2B - Radetec will start selling to GP clinics, sexual health clinics, NGOs, charities, and other institutions, for mass-screening of STIs quickly and inexpensively. Materially reducing wait time and cost compared to existing lab-based PCR tests, saving vast amounts of resources.

2. B2C - Following B2B applications, Radetec will refine the tests and launch consumer-friendly versions of tests for sale in supermarkets, vending machines or online, for the general public to use in an at-home setting, thus offering privacy protection and convenient testing of STIs.
