We are creating the future of wood. A future where wood becomes an advanced composite lightweight material strong enough to become a sustainable alternative to concrete and steel.
Current Status
CMPC and FINSA are two large timber corporations that invested in our pre-seed round. With them, we are developing freeform facades and a high-performance CLT. We also have an NDA with Skidmore OM to develop unique cladding solutions for tech companies in California. In mobility, we have an NDA signed with Volvo to prototype products. We have a 2 m2 lightweight slab prototype and implemented our first robotic manufacturing cell.
Problem or Opportunity
Today, lightweight materials are essential for vehicles to emit less CO2 and for buildings to consume less raw materials. However, industries consuming millions of tons of structural materials are struggling to improve their environmental track because they lack lightweight sustainable alternatives to structural materials such as concrete, steel, and aluminum. One reason is because the triad Sustainability +Industrial Productivity +Structural Performance hasn’t yet been solved.
Solution (product or service)
We have combined material science with the latest structural optimization and digital fabrication tools to create Woodflow, a high-performance, freeform, timber-based composite able to replace structural materials like concrete, steel, and aluminum with a highly efficient lightweight sustainable alternative. Our technology allows us to develop multiple amazing sustainable products from beautiful unique cladding solutions to high-performance, lightweight, structural slabs, to structural components for vehicles' body in white.
Business model
Our business model evolves as the company matures. Initially, we plan to design, develop, and manufacture the first Woodflow products together with our corporate backers. Fully integrated design and manufacturing capabilities will generate revenue from the engineering and design of structural components, as well as the sale of finalized parts.
Once the technology is validated and we have gained market traction, we will scale using a joint venture or licensing model for third parties to manufacture Woodflow components.
