As cities grow faster than ever before, new tools are required to maintain and enhance the well-being, safety, and operational needs of the city. Moreover, as cameras and mobile devices continue to proliferate, it may appear that city officials know everything there is to know about their respective jurisdictions, especially regarding vehicular traffic and resident movements.
The fact is that due to privacy issues, most of this data is not available for the city's use, or not very accurate to create a smart public space.
