Idea

Our venture, run by two female immigrants, is working on integration of expats, especially women through experiential German courses, intercultural webinars and community building through app.

Current Status

In last 12 months, our Go-To-Market enabled us to have a 2.3X revenue growth by catering to more than 189 learners from different professions, gender, and age groups. The status-quo is as follows.
• German online live courses for everyday and professional usage
• On Demand interactive Digital course is launched and being scaled up
• Creative networking content, our Fernprost is delivering language and intercultural themes that would be used to acquire a community for our app also.
• HiDi app protoype is in progress as one stop solution for communication and networking platform

Market

We see the Potential Available Market (PAM) in language learning increasing from €1.5bn in 2022 to € 2.6bn in 2027 and the PAM of women immigrants to rise from 5.3M to 9.4M, i.e. our client base. Our beachhead is based on SOM of Indian expats for now but as Germany has 46.2% women in its workforce, this solution is highly scalable to other women expats. As our Communication and Integration app prototype development is in progress, we expect the market to expand globally once we launch the beta version of our app.

Problem or Opportunity

Women consists of 50% of the 11.4m expats and internationals in Germany. Out of 95% Indians in Germany in high-skilled jobs, 85% are male. No record is available on female expats, resulting in a lack of initiatives to facilitate their participation in the society. The alarming fact that Germany ranks 62 on indices of ‘feeling at home’ and ‘friendliness’ calls for urgent attention particularly to condition of female expats living in Germany. Expats, especially women find it hard to network and integrate that restricts their socioeconomic developments and resource availability for the state.

Solution (product or service)

We are striving to achieve the two UN SDG goals of Gender equality and women empowerment (Goal 5); and reduced inequality (goal 8). Through our interactive and experiential language learning initiatives along with an women focused app, the language barrier would be minimized, and integration and communication of expats, particularly women would be enhanced which would facilitate their social, cultural and professional goals.

Competitors

Whereas there already exist many language schools, from government language institutes to private schools like Goethe Institute, Volkshochschule, Lingoda etc., apps like Duolingo, Bussu, inlingua, and consultation companies like Meetra who are providing services to expats, the problem of lack of productive engagement, social exclusion and cultural integration experienced especially by the female immigrants has not received the deserved attention other than at the spaces like Facebook pages and therefore, there exist certainly no specific solutions till date. Based on our study of the above language and integration facilitators, we found out that 90 % of service providers focus on language courses and cultural aspects, 50 % on networking & consulting and only 10 % provide a knowledge platform for immigrants.

Advantages or differentiators

Through our live courses supplemented with free webinars on social, cultural, and professional themes, we encourage language skills among expats. Our women focussed app will have two main functions, communication and integration. Through our app 'HiDi', we will provide a platform which will cater to the areas, e.g., German communication skills, cultural integration, networking & consulting, as well as knowledge exchange. In contrast to our competitors whose focus is mainly language courses, our app will empower expats, especially women, socially, culturally, and professionally. This app will facilitate a safe and organic space to female migrants to support each other and emancipate together.
