Problem or Opportunity
Companies using visual interfaces are forced to either use commercially available tablets or custom touch screens. The former restricts product design freedom by having to design around the screen. The latter forces companies to employ large amounts of engineering resources building their own OS and app functionality. Touchwood provides an invisible display as a modular hardware and software solution. Touchwood is also more durable than glass.
Solution (product or service)
Touchwood will sell modular touch displays that can be embedded into nearly any opaque surface. For companies using custom touch screens, Touchwood offers a modular solution with a built in OS and app dev platform allowing for the reduction of engineering resources. For companies using commercially available tablets, Touchwood provides product designers the flexibility of integrating touch displays of any size and with any surface finish.
Business model
B2B - Touchwood will be selling two distinct pieces, the opaque touch display hardware and the software platform that allows for app development on any sized, shaped Touchwood display. Touchwood will be making a profit on hardware sales and charging companies a recurring subscription fee for using the software platform that allows them to build their own applications.
