Crispify is an innovative air quality monitoring and management system that works to revolutionize the mobility in-cabin user experience.
Crispify system is a cutting edge in-cabin air quality monitoring and management solution. Powered by cloud AI software, it is designed to offer car manufacturers, fleet operators, ride-sharing services, and autonomous mobility services the healthiest ride possible and an exceptional user experience in terms of wellness, comfort, and safety.
Current Status
Crispify has developed and manufactured a working product designed for PoCs and has developed the ML algorithm that drives the decision-making on AWS cloud infrastructure. Crispify has begun deployment of our solution with Zipcar fleet at NYC, San Fransisco and Boston. It is part of a gradual deployment that eventually will cover the entire 18,000 vehicle fleet. Crispify has also had PoC with Volkswagen as part of our OWM offering.
Market
Crispify has 2 customer types: OEMs - Vehicle manufacturers (VW, Ford, GM, Stellantis, Honda...)and their respective Tier1 suppliers with a TAM of 5 B$. Each OEM has its own culture and process in implementing innovations - some take longer than others. Most OEMs will pare the implementation process with a certified tier 1 supplier such as Bosch.
Mobility as a Service - Car fleets (car sharing, rental, ridehailing, taxis), Public transportation (Busses, trains) and Truck fleets with a TAM of 5.5B$. Each segment has a sub-segment with different pains and needs but all have UX and air quality pains. The sale cycle is much shorter than OEM and takes only a few months to accomplish. rain and underground cabins, Busses
Problem or Opportunity
On-road air pollution in heavy traffic is the most polluted environment in urban areas. The various types of pollutants are entering the vehicle and not mitigated in any way with the vehicle's systems.
MaaS UX prblem Bad odors and in-cabin conditions are a major issue for car-sharing services and their users and are considered the #1 complaint by carsharing users. Cleaning the vehicles is the #1 cost of the operators. However, it is forbidden to add any visual monitoring solutions.
Solution (product or service)
Crispify two product lines:
Fleet service and maintenance - Crispify delivers a plug and play device with an online data dashboard for fleet operators of car sharing, car rental and ride-sharing. Crispify system gives the fleet manager smart online monitoring via dashboard/API of real-time smoking, odor level, cleanliness level, and COVID-19 infection risk level. The device is easily installed by connecting to the 12V fuse box and attaching it to the front windshield just like a dashcam.
OEM - Full air quality solution for new cars. Transforming the climate control system into an air quality system with Crispify software and data analytics. Crispify provides real-time air quality analytics for the inside and outside of the car cabin and can alert on issues like CO2 drowsiness level and hazardous conditions. It basically transforms the climate control in your vehicle to a full air quality management system. Implementation of this solution requires an OEM or Tier1 supplier to help with the engineering process connecting to the CANBUS of the vehicle.
Competitors
Our competitors are mainly Tier1 companies such as Bosch, Mann&Hummel, Valeo and even Tesla. All of them are solving the problem via hardware-based solutions, meaning adding more filtration layers and air circulation power (Tesla's bioweapon is a great example). We view these companies as competitors and potential partners since we can offer them our software to match their hardware solutions. More potential competitors to the MaaS monitoring solution are home and office air quality monitoring companies and start-ups like Dyson, Awair, IQAir. They focus on indoor monitoring but may try to pivot into the automotive domain.
Advantages or differentiators
Crispify is the first data-driven solution air quality management platform designed to mitigate in-cabin air pollution and provide a superior user experience while commuting. This innovative approach allows the implementation of a low-cost and easily upgradable (via FOTA) solution, unlike the current expensive heavy hardware-oriented solutions in the market today. Moreover, using the same technology Crispify has developed a dedicated MaaS fleets plug and play user experience monitoring solution
Finance
Crispify's revenue stream for the next 5 years is base on the MaaS solution. Since accomplishing OEM implementation may take between 2-5 years the main source of short-term revenue is the MaaS solution, which has already started initial deployment. This solution is sold as a monthly subscription for 10$ per vehicle per month, with low cost of technical initial implementation of a new customer. Zipcar's fleet alone is worth over 2M$ per year If the entire fleet will deploy our solution. The costs are 1$ per month for connectivity and 60$ for the hardware (including kit and shipment).
Business model
Crispify has 2 business models: OEM - direct one time sale MaaS - Hardware as a Service, as described in the previous article.
We use the accelerators, incubators, trade shows, and networking from previous founder occupations to generate the leads for B2B sales strategy. We are working with Techstars mentors to generate better marketing and sales channels. While OEM is a long-term play and may take even months to exchange basic NDA legal documents, with MaaS fleets the pace is much quicker, with many fleets interested in the product. It is our decision to slow down with new customer implementation since our team's bandwidth is limited due to the fact that the team is still too small to support such demand.
Money will be spent on
Team growth: adding Fullstack engineer, data scientist, embedded engineer and CMO. Manufacturing of mass production inventory for upcoming projects.
Offer for investor
We prefer not to discuss valuation upfront at this stage.
1. The various declarations of some ca manufacturers to go fully electric in a few years might lower the awareness of on-road pollution, which will actually not be affected by this tren in the next 15 years. 2. Big consumer companies might also try to develop in-cabin monitoring platform for fleets or as B2C. 3. There is a possibility that OEMs will opt out of using a holistic solution like Crispify and opt for a more simplified solution. Even though from the conversations we have had with our champions in these companies, it s not the case.
