Our concept is quite simple: we prepare delicious, healthy and fresh homemade pasta. It goes with one of our original sauces and a selection of three tasteful ingredients. And YOU are the one who compose your dish. Select a type of pasta, one sauce, three of our fresh ingredients and, in just three to five minutes, you can enjoy a the taste of your imagination.
The name is a combination of our founder´s name- Lam- with “Massa”, that means “Pasta”. Inspired in the italian couisine, the name means “The Dough", when you read it as “La-Massa”.
LaMassa is a fresh homemade pasta restaurant. It started in Maputo in 2018 as a take-away spot, located in a charming residential garden. In 2019, LaMassa opened a restaurant service at Gloria Mall, located in front of Costa do Sol beach in Maputo. In 2021, LaMassa has started selling just the pasta to the market, both to private clients and to companies.
The restaurant has closed in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and is now looking for investment to re-open at a larger scale. A franchising model will soon start to be implemented.
LaMassa is a urban concept. It works in vibrant urban areas, where there are offices or stores nearby.
We are a healthy delicious solution for people who don´t have time but still want to eat well.
Our prices are comfortable for a middle-class type of client, with a single meal of pasta and drink costing around USD 7.

City workers have busy days and don´t have, often, time to have proper meals during the week.
Fast-Food comes as a viable solution because people can eat without wasting too much time. But...is common fast-food really food?
That´s what we came to fix. We offer people a quick meal but also healthy, natural and, of course, delicious and nutritious.
Solution (product or service)
We want our customers to eat fast, eat well and be empowered in their taste. Our customers don´t want to be told what to do or what to eat. They are creatives, bold and have distinctive personalities.
At LaMassa, clients choose from a selection of crafted pastas, delicious sauces and fresh ingredients and compose their own unique meal. They can come again a few days later and, from the same selection, compose a completely different meal.
We started offering take-away services. We then moved into a complete restaurant service. And now we will also provide Fresh Pasta to the market.
Our main competition in Mozambique are other restaurants inspired in italian cuisine, like Mimmo´s or Volare. But none of these offers the type of service we provide, of hadnmade pasta where clients compose their own dishes.
We are the first restaurant of this kind in Mozambique and, as far as we know, in Africa. So, we occupy a special place of pioneers on customer´s emotional space.
