Idea

We use an innovative approach to create communities of health seekers
across Africa while offering premium access to integrated care via;
consultations with hundreds of doctors on demand, appointment
scheduling at clinics or labs, access to disease management and risk
assessment tools, support groups and discounted sales of health
products and services.

Current Status

Over 2,500 registered B2C users on Wellvis have completed 2000+ Q&A and private chat sessions combined. A network of 150+ doctors & allied health workers

Market

The telehealth market in Africa is expected to continue to grow significantly; this growth will be driven by increasing prevalence of chronic diseases, rising geriatric population, and continuous penetration of smartphones and Internet connectivity. As patients continue to demand improved relationships with their healthcare providers and as the demand and need for healthcare guidance and treatment across distance via communication technologies increase, we are poised to be available to support our existing users into that phase.

The potential market includes the large young population of Africa most of whom are internet savvy. Majority of the African countries presently have at least 40% of their population between the ages of 18 – 45, with overall internet users at over 300 Million (Nigeria - 80 million internet subscribers)

Problem or Opportunity

Wellvis is solving the problem of access to quality healthcare advice which is severely low in Nigeria and across Africa. People searching for health information are exposed to more harm than good, like health information and advice, of various and dubious quality, are available on and offline via family, social networks, religious leaders, and educators. Wellvis is leveraging the increasing penetration of the internet and smartphones to improve healthcare access connecting people with verified health professionals, quality and timely health information, services, facilities, and products.

Solution (product or service)

We offer a premium option for telemedicine services (direct one-on-one online consultation with verified health workers), appointment booking (plus reminders) for physical consultation with specialists and/or for lab investigations and a portal to access curated health services and products at a discount. We also offer online health support groups + disease management tools for individuals (and/or their caregivers) with chronic illnesses on a subscription model.

Advantages or differentiators

Wellvis is better because of our ability to enrich the platform with user-generated content, ability to permit users to post questions in anonymity, and our pricing model, which goes from free to freemium, and premium ensuring inclusivity even for low-income mothers and young adolescents who have health issues and cannot afford to pay for a consultation or remotely positioned to access health facilities. These other companies serve solely as a telemedicine platform, why for us, is it only a feature, we are primarily a service demand aggregator serving as a funnel to numerous other healthcare businesses.
