Roodkappje is a platform that connects micro-businesses, customers, and volunteers. Micro-businesses will be able to sign up, list their products, and start within a matter of seconds. Customers will be able to see all their favorite shops on a map view, pick their favorite products and confirm their order. Volunteers will then pick up the order and deliver it to the doorstep, gaining so-called hero points that enable them to challenge their friends and neighbors to do more good and stay fit whilst on their daily walk outside.
Current Status
A week ago we launched the platform with sign-ups and and started our marketing campaign. Yesterday we launched the web-based app and are already testing it with food shops, buyers and volunteers.
Problem or Opportunity
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. The current pandemic and the resulting crisis create challenges to local micro-businesses like never seen before. During the current lockdown, 10,000 Dutch micro food suppliers have closed. Studies show that they will only be able to survive up to 16 days without any revenue. On the other hand, thousands of people have to rearrange their lives due to the unusual situation. A growing supportive community arises, trying to help the ones in need.
Solution (product or service)
With Roodkappje we bring local food suppliers online easily. These suppliers will provide their best selling products to consumers nearby. Volunteers in the community take over the delivery part. Be it on their daily route around the block, or out of pure goodwill. Unlike other platforms, we offer free support to small businesses during times of crisis. In addition, we partake in developing more active communities through gamification and exercise.
