Barbale is the organic farm which locates in the village of Atskuri, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Georgia. Main goals of the farm is Producing healthy food, organizing agricultural tourism and share experience among the locals. Our motto is #weproducehealth and mostly we are volunteers work based farming.
Barbale Organic Farm is operating on the market of Georgia last 4 years and is producing more than 30 different types of organic products, with the growing of organic vegetables. Mostly we sell our products online and organizing delivery service in Georgia, we have weekly markets in Tbilisi as well where our customers can buy Barbale organic products.
From the very beginning our customers were only our friends who have trusted us. Since this time the network is growing. Now we have around 50 to 100 customers per week and we are trying to make this number double.
Problem or Opportunity
Barbale is the first organized organic agriculture in Georgia. Since we have stated operation our business is growing and is attracting more customers. We have a network who is following organic agriculture rules and making business we call with "Barbale Way". Since 2019 we have a new project within we made our farm totally independent with electric energy, with the support of UNDP we have installed solar panels and we are the first ones in Georgia who made Bee Therapy house. We produce honey, dry fruits and jams as well. Main value of the farm is producing healthy products and now we are going to try manage yard well for agritours are organized for visitors. Main problem now is infrastructure (outdoor kitchen and dinning room) in the yard of the farm. We don't have shop in Tbilisi as well, which is crucial to increase our business.
Solution (product or service)
Barbale has different type of products and services to offer. We grow organic potatoes (white, red, purple and sweet), we have corn flour, beans, garlic, onions, dry fruits and honey. We seek for more cooperation with grocery businesses of Georgia and tourism as well since we run agritours at the farm. Final stage of our business solution would be to open the shop in Tbilisi.
When we have started our startup there were not competition on the organic market in the country, last 3 years the number of competitors is increasing very fast. We are trying to create new products and be still leading producer of unique organic vegetables, honey and sweets.
Advantages or differentiators
We are producing a few unique product is not produced in the other places of the country. We grow purple potatoes and producing pumpkin jam with a few secret ingredient.
Most of our finances come from our permanent customers who are buying organic food from us every week. Our organic farming products are 25-35% more expensive than normal market prices in the country. Our minimal goal is 100 000$ income within upcoming 5 years.
We are two founders of our business who run all different fields of the farm. We operate our business with no permanent employees, just with contracted ones. We use volunteers help to increase productivity of our business and we are open for any visitor to see what and how we are producing healthy products. Thrust can be the main base we are trying to build our business on.
