Idea

Everyone experiences problems and difficulties on days when the climate changes - whether due to rain or strong sunlight. Understanding consumer behaviour and new markets, Rentbrella came with a solution to solve this problem: a sharing umbrella service that allows its users to move around on foot - despite the weather.

Rentbrella has developed its own hardware and software technology that are simple to use and also easily scalable. By using our umbrellas as an advertising space to companies publish their brands, we structure a cash flow positive business model.

Current Status

Business model validated in Brazil, with 400 umbrella machines in the main urban centers of São Paulo. We have closed annual contracts with sponsors and a positive cash flow in our operation. We are preparing our international expansion starting in New York with 100 machines.

Market

Sponsors and advertisers pay to have their brand displayed on the umbrellas or on the sides of the machines. It is a high impact communication and marketing activation, offering a unique experience and visibility not only to all users of the sharing service, but also everyone who attend the main commercial regions where Rentbrella stations are installed (crown jewel buildings, malls, universities and public transportation).

Companies outside of our coverage areas pay a monthly fee to have the umbrella sharing service in their buildings, industrial and logistics facilities, in order to offer better mobility, greater convenience and care for all employees.

Users are charged after 24 hours of use for free, in each umbrella withdrawal.

Rentbrella has developed its own hardware and software technology, that are simple to use and also easily scalable. This enables the company to control and understand every process, which makes possible to import the urban mobility solution to other countries.

By allocating stations at strategic points (commercial buildings, shopping malls, universities, subway stations, and others), Rentbrella solution allows an improvement in urban mobility in large cities, as it allows thousands of people to continue their routine doing everything on foot. Rain or intense sun are no obstacle for taking a taxi or other transport; just take an umbrella, be protected along the way to your home, work, college, among others.

Rent, use and return at any station. It is a simple but clever solution and yet another way to get around and enjoy the city in a sustainable and conscious way.

Competitors

There are other players that developed other types of umbrella sharing machines in Canada, Denmark and China.

But what is unique about Rentbrella's solution is that we have developed proprietary engineering technology and patents, worldwide capillarity through established international partnerships and the coverage of a range of different establishments: buildings, malls, universities, supermarkets and public transportation, being easily adapted in each location.
