Idea or High Level Concept

Sense is launching 1st non-invasive devices to detect/access stroke & TBI in real time. Uses radio frequency to scan 360 data points across brain in seconds; for use in ICU, ED/EMS & Military.

Traction and Current Status

Currently participating in human clinical trials for NeuSTAT ICU product, and beginning NeuroHawk military field and ER clinical trials in Q4, 2022 with $2.4 million military contract.

Problem or Opportunity

65 million people worldwide suffer traumatic brain injuries (TBI) or strokes every year. Someone in the US dies of stroke every four minutes. More than 160 people die in US each day from TBI related injuries. Costs to system more than 100 billion each year.

Currently there is no accurate, objective way to distinguish between TBI and important stroke subtypes in the field or emergency departments in real-time. And the optimal treatment window is very narrow. There is no ICU monitor to detect/alert hospital staff in real time that patient is experiencing suspected intracranial expansion.

Solution

Our devices have 9 antennae that transmit a low-power radiofrequency pulse through the patient’s brain matter. NeuroHawk is portable, non-invasive device that easily and reliably determines within minutes whether a patient with neurological symptoms is suffering from a TBI, hemorrhagic or ischemic stroke in EMS/ER/Military field. NeuSTAT provides ongoing monitoring of ICU patients for intracranial expansion - saving precious time for patient, and saving thousands of dollars for hospitals in both reduced ICU stays and for risk management.

Business Model, Chanells, Metrics

Enthusiastic support from hospitals, EMS and military groups w have spoken with about carrying our products. We are launching first into clinical trial sites and Level 1 stroke centers; beginning to collaborate with Mayo Clinic and NATO Center of Excellence for Military Medicine. We are working with multiple clinical trial sites currently, and onboarding Mayo Clinic for both ICU and ER trial site participation. We are also working closely with AMR Ambulance for EMS use case research. We have strong Go-To-Market Plan in place based on leadership team extensive experience and know-how.
