Idea or High Level Concept

Silas is building the AI underwriting intelligence layer for commercial insurance, helping insurers turn complex submissions, documents, and risk data into faster, smarter underwriting decisions.

Traction and Current Status

Silas raised its pre-seed round in October, went to market in January, and secured its first London-based insurer within a few months, with a second following the month after. We now have 2 insurance clients secured, a third insurer trialling the platform, and average contract values of $150K. Early traction is accelerating fast, positioning Silas to become the category-defining AI underwriting intelligence platform for commercial insurance.

Problem or Opportunity

Commercial insurance underwriting is trapped in manual workflows. Highly paid underwriters spend hours digging through fragmented data, reconciling inconsistent information, and searching for the insight they need to make decisions. This creates slow quote turnaround, missed revenue, higher operating costs, inconsistent risk selection, and limited portfolio visibility. As risk complexity rises, insurers are still relying on human capacity to process what should be machine-readable intelligence.

Solution

Silas is an AI underwriting intelligence platform for commercial insurance. We turn fragmented, unstructured risk data into decision-ready insights in minutes, helping underwriters assess submissions faster, identify key risk signals, compare documents, check contract certainty, and apply risk appetite consistently. Silas gives insurers a scalable intelligence layer across underwriting workflows, reducing manual effort while improving speed, consistency, and portfolio visibility.

Business Model, Chanells, Metrics

Silas operates a modular B2B SaaS model, selling annual contracts to commercial insurers, MGAs, and reinsurers. We charge per module, typically $50K–$100K per module, with average contract values of $150K. This creates a clear land-and-expand motion: clients can start with one workflow, then expand across underwriting intelligence, contract certainty, submissions, and portfolio use cases over time.
