Idea or High Level Concept

I am reaching out to present Nika, a next-generation hypersonic system under development by Special Developments Orion. Our mission is to redefine long-range, high-speed precision strike capabilities through the integration of advanced rotating detonation engine (RDE) and ramjet propulsion technologies within a combined hydrogen-fueled cycle.

Territory of the product or service implementation

Global (world)

Traction and Current Status

At this stage, our team has achieved TRL3–4, having completed laboratory-scale testing, digital simulations, and subsystem design validation. The next milestone is the development of a full-scale demonstrator.

Problem or Opportunity

Modern defence systems face increasingly advanced and fast-moving threats, while many existing platforms are too slow, costly, or inflexible to respond effectively. This creates a significant opportunity for next-generation, high-speed, modular technologies that can operate in contested environments and be developed and deployed more efficiently.

Solution

Proceed with advancing the platform to prototype and validation stage, secure seed funding, and establish strategic partnerships to accelerate deployment and market entry.

Customer Segments and Market

Our primary customer segment includes government and defence organisations in the EU and allied countries seeking next-generation high-speed and precision aerospace capabilities. Secondary segments include defence primes and aerospace integrators requiring advanced propulsion, guidance, or modular platform technologies.

The market is driven by increasing defence modernisation budgets, demand for sovereign high-speed systems, and the need for cost-efficient, rapidly deployable solutions in contested environments.

Revenue Streams and Cost Structure

We generate revenue through government and defence development contracts, platform integration programmes, and licensing of core technologies such as propulsion and guidance software. As the platform matures, recurring income will come from upgrades, variants, and long-term support partnerships.

Our main costs include engineering and R&D, prototyping and testing, advanced materials and manufacturing, software development, and compliance activities. Operational and administrative expenses scale as the company grows.

Business Model, Chanells, Metrics

Business Model: B2G and strategic B2B — revenue from development contracts, integration programmes, and technology licensing.

Customer Segments: Government defence agencies and aerospace/defence integrators.

Channels: Direct government engagement, defence primes, innovation programmes, and strategic partnerships.

Revenue Streams: Contracts, licensing, upgrades, and long-term support.

Key Metrics: TRL progression, prototype milestones, partnerships secured, and funding vs. runway.

Competitors and Existing Alternatives

Major defence primes developing high-speed and advanced strike systems, as well as state-backed hypersonic programmes. Existing alternatives include conventional cruise systems, ballistic platforms, and high-cost legacy solutions that are often slower to adapt and expensive to scale. Emerging defence-tech startups are also entering the space with more agile, cost-focused approaches.

Advantages or differentiators

Modular architecture enabling rapid adaptation across missions and platforms.
Digital-first development with simulation and AI-driven optimisation, reducing cost and time-to-market.
Advanced propulsion integration and high-speed performance combined with manufacturable composite structures.
Scalable model based on reusable subsystems and long-term upgrade pathways.

Money will be spent on

Engineering team expansion, prototype manufacturing, testing and validation activities, advanced materials and propulsion development, software and AI system refinement, and compliance/IP protection. A portion will also support operational setup and strategic partnership development.

Offer for investor

We are offering equity participation in a high-growth, deep-tech aerospace company developing next-generation high-speed capabilities. Investors gain early access to a defensible technology platform with strong IP potential, modular scalability, and significant strategic relevance to UK and allied defence markets. The round will fund prototype development, testing, and key technical milestones that position the company for larger follow-on investment or strategic partnerships.
