Idea or High Level Concept
We provide industrial-municipal water treatment plants and thermal energy recovery systems with superior energy efficiency, fewer points of failure, and up to 50% lower CapEx and OpEx.
Territory of the product or service implementation
Global (world)
Traction and Current Status
- We have successfully completed two field pilot plant tests and are ready to begin commercial deployments. - We have negotiated a Letter of Intent with a major international customer interested in deploying two 100K gpd systems and making an equity investment in Sylvan Source. - In parallel, we are in discussions with several other large industrial customer prospects regarding potential deployments. - We have 18 patents granted with another 19 patents-pending.
Problem or Opportunity
Almost every industrial process results in contaminated wastewater. We are addressing: - The cost to treat or dispose of industrial wastewater, - The energy needed to treat this water, and - System size and complexity These issues are operationally significant and cost our customers millions of dollars every year.
Solution
Our solution is the Sylvan Source Core(TM) multi-stage thermal water treatment plant which provides: - Exceptional water purity - Fewer points of failure - Simple, easy to operate configurations - Up to 4X more energy efficient than competitive thermal systems - 50%-75% smaller physical footprint than any competitor - 40%-50% lower CapEx and OpEx compared to all competitors for all industrial systems independently benchmarked
The Sylvan Source Core is a multi-stage thermal water treatment plant with a proprietary thermal transfer mechanism which is extremely energy efficient. This energy efficiency drives our CapEx and OpEx advantages, as well as our much smaller physical footprint.
All claims come from 3rd party experts and customers.
Customer Segments and Market
Estimated Global Market Size: $20 Billion / Year, 3.68% CAGR
Examples of Customer/Market Sectors: - Power Generation - Oil and gas - produced water - Metals, chemicals, refining - Coal and landfill leachate - Mining - Semiconductor - Paper production - Beverage processing/manufacturing - Seawater desalination
Revenue Streams and Cost Structure
We will sell modular water treatment plants ranging in size from 100K gallons per day (gpd) to 5M gpd. Our installed price ranges from $1M to $104M per plant including equipment, installation and project management. One of the biggest factors affecting the price is materials selection.
Forecasted revenue: - Year 1: $2.2M - Year 2: $21.3M - Year 3: $155.3M - Year 4: $284.1M
Business Model, Chanells, Metrics
Ideal Customers: Large industrial companies with their own on-site water treatment facilities.
Direct sales to customers: - Engineering Services - Equipment Sales - Support Services
Key metrics are gross margin and net profit.
Competitors and Existing Alternatives
Direct Competitors: - Water treatment companies of all sizes. Examples include Suez, AquaTech, IDE Technologies. - The technologies they deploy include Reverse Osmosis, Multi-effect Distillation and Vapor Compression Evaporators. - These competitors have up to 50% higher CapEx and more than 2X the physical footprint of the Sylvan Source Core.
Indirect Competition: - Sylvan Source did very well in a benchmark comparing the Sylvan Source Core to Disposal (down-welling) for a boiler clean-up wastewater treatment application.
Advantages or differentiators
- Exceptional water purity and concentrated wastewater/brine stream - Simple, robust configurations with fewer points of failure - Up to 4X more energy efficient than competing thermal systems - 50%-75% smaller physical footprint than all competitors - 40%-50% lower CapEx and OpEx compared to all competitors in independent competitive industrial application benchmarks
Risks
Delay in orders (customer), delay in deployments (Sylvan Source), post-Covid supply chain impacts.
We have risk mitigation strategies for these risks.
